This week's outfit focuses on a scene where – sacrilege! – cats are not necessarily
the main focus: the fight scene between Thomas O’Malley and Edgar, Madame’s
butler.
'All the way to Timbuktu' outfit |
After his
first attempt to get rid of Duchess and her kittens fails, Edgar has a new idea
to send them far far away, to a place where they cannot come back from – and
that is all the way to Timbuktu. Edgar’s preparations to rid himself of the
cats once and for all, one of the most dramatic and energetic scenes of the
movie, culminate with his fight with O’Malley, who almost gets killed with a
pitchfork. However, all the animals work together perfectly, and while
Roquefort the mouse releases Duchess and the kittens from the coffer, Scat
Cat’s band save O’Malley and help Frou-Frou the mare lock Edgar in his packing
case. Thus Edgar gets sent to Timbuktu himself.
'I'm sending you to Timbuktu, if it's the last thing I do!' |
What better
way to celebrate this very lively scene where the animals’ efforts combined
result in the exile of the villain than a sporty outfit? The color blocks and
sheer paneling work just perfectly to transpose into clothing this dramatic
chain of events, concentrated in a 3 minutes long scene that keeps you stuck to
your chair, breathless and fingers crossed for the animals.
Sheer panel sweatshirt made of offwhite elastic tulle, orange French terry, offwhite Ponte di Rome jersey, with raw edges and front pockets, size 40 |
The sheer
paneling of the ‘All the way to Timbuktu’ sweatshirt is an interpretation of
all this hustle and bustle, all the running around and fighting between O’Malley
and Edgar, Edgar and Scat Cat’s band, Frou-Frou’s final kick in the butler’s
butt, and Edgar’s ending up locked inside the coffer.
Wrap color blocks mini skirt made of orange French terry and offwhite Ponte di Rome jersey, with knife pleats and lateral pockets, size 38 |
The image is completed by a wrap color blocks mini skirt with pleats and juxtapositions in the front, in contrast with a clean, simple back, all elements that add to the dramatic effect of the outfit. Because this outfit, just as the scene it was inspired by, is all about drama, drama, drama.
